What’s the first information you consume in the morning?
Oftentimes I grab my phone by my bed and read my email, but sometimes I’ll go into the kitchen and I turn on KPCC in L.A. and listen to NPR’s Morning Edition.
What are your go-to social media platforms?
Twitter. I have an Instagram account, but I don’t use it that often. My Facebook is defunct; I haven’t used it in years.
Who do you follow on Twitter?
Gabe Liedman, Max Silvestri, Dean Fleischer-Camp (my husband), Chelsea Peretti, Noah Garfinkel and then, you know, like, Cher.
How do you get your news?
I get my news from NPR. I have it on in the car all day. We don’t have cable TV because I’m in a constant argument with my husband over whether we should have it. I want it, and he doesn’t. I can’t get [my news] from television, and I don’t really go on blogs or online stuff; it doesn’t feel natural to me. I like to listen to the radio.
What TV shows do you watch?
I just got into Broadchurch and watched the whole thing in a few days with my husband. Other than that, Mad Men, House of Cards, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, I got into The Blacklist last year … I can watch anything on network television because we get that through our TV. The other stuff I have to buy on Amazon. Oh! I loved Silicon Valley.
You’ve had a lot of guest spots on different shows. Is there usually some improv involved?
There’s a lot on the Kroll Show. Less on Parks and Rec because they shoot really quickly. They let us do what they call a “fun run” where we improv some stuff, but the takes that they end up choosing are usually from the original scripts because the writers are phenomenal. We do a little improvising on Bob’s Burgers.
Do you prefer to watch shows as they air or are you a binge-watcher?
Binge-watch, it’s just so satisfying. There’s nothing like being like, “Oh, we’re done, but we’ve got seven more!” A couple of years ago, when I first moved to L.A., my best friend and I binge-watched all of Felicity and it was amazing.
What’s on your reading list right now?
Like everybody else that subscribes to The New Yorker, I have a pile of New Yorkers that I need to catch up on. I just started The Secret History because I read The Goldfinch and wanted to read some more Donna Tartt. After that I’m probably going to read something that’s a bit sunnier; she’s kind of tearing me apart. Her books make me anxious, but they’re beautiful.
How do you wind down before bed?
I usually make a cup of tea and read until I’m sleepy. Oh, and I smoke a little weed. Let’s get real.
