Thanks to the Internet, you no longer need to wait till Super Bowl Sunday to see a Super Bowl commercial. However, you will have to work play for the privilege.
Audi’s Facebook page features a game called “Race the Light.” The setting mimics the one you’ll see on Audi’s S.B. spot (which we now know is called), “Vampire Party.” In the game, you need to search a nighttime forest clearing for the commercial’s 60 frames. You need to find all 60 before Audi headlamps light the scene. If you can achieve this, you’ll see the commercial—and earn the chance to win a trip to the Audi Sportscar Experience.
We played a bunch of times, and eventually got an “excellent” score…but failed to win.
But fear not! We came upon Audi’s Super Bowl commercial anyway! See above.
So basically, it’s a spoof on the current crop of Vampire Youth entertainment. The Audi selling point: Its headlights measure a light temperature of 5,500 Kelvin, the closest recreation of daylight possible, explains an Audi press release. And you know what daylight does to Vampire Youth.
The clever commercial aside, we’re glad Audi strives to mimic sunlight with its headlamps. Some headlights are too yellow; others have this cold bluish tint. We totally support the daylight-at-night aesthetic.
Of course, that still won’t quite ease the blow of losing our chance to win a trip to the Audi Sportscar Experience.
