This animated, Valentine’s Day ditty from Google could very well rank as the best spot to point out the inadequacy of its own product.
Here we see a boy rush to the world-dominating search engine to learn what becomes a jump-roping girl most. The search engine tells him to shower her with flowers, chocolates, dinosaur shirts—you name it. Nothing turns her head—despite the fact that the romantic Tony Bennett song “Cold, Cold Heart” plays underneath.
Only when the boy gives up on Google and joins the girl in jumping rope does she finally fall for him.
Perhaps Google is showing off its self confidence and is saying that not all life’s solutions lie in a search engine. But we think the real message is: To best woo a girl, your first Google search term must be “diamonds.”
